There’s something special about fall in the Brainerd Lakes Area.
The summer crowds begin to thin out, mornings get a little cooler, the bugs finally start losing the battle, and the trees around the lakes begin trading their summer greens for brilliant reds, oranges, and yellows.
For those of us who live and work here year-round, it’s one of the best times of the year to call the Brainerd Lakes Area home.
Fall Looks a Little Different Up Here
Drive from Brainerd toward Nisswa, Pequot Lakes, Breezy Point, or Crosslake in late September and early October and it’s hard not to appreciate where we live.
The maples are turning red. The birch and aspen light up in yellow and gold. The lakes reflect all of it. Even an ordinary drive to work can become a pretty spectacular tour of northern Minnesota.
Head toward Crosby and the Cuyuna area and the landscape changes again. Travel north toward Pine River, Backus, Hackensack, Longville, Emily, or Outing and you find mile after mile of woods, lakes, cabins, and small towns getting ready for another Minnesota winter.
It’s a pretty good place to spend your days taking care of lawns.
Summer Winds Down, But There’s Still Plenty Going On
Fall is also when the Brainerd Lakes Area seems to change gears.
Boats start coming out of the water. Docks and lifts come ashore. Seasonal residents begin closing cabins. Hunters start thinking about the season ahead. Homeowners rake leaves, clean garages, put away patio furniture, and tackle that last list of outdoor projects before the snow arrives.
And, of course, lawns need some attention too.
The work you do in the fall can have a big impact on how your lawn comes back next spring. Final mowing, leaf removal, fall fertilization, aeration, and other seasonal lawn care can help turf make it through a long Minnesota winter and get off to a stronger start when warmer weather finally returns.
Taking Care of Lawns in the Place We Call Home
TurfCare has been serving the Brainerd Lakes Area for more than three decades. That means we’ve spent a lot of falls working in Brainerd, Baxter, Nisswa, Lake Shore, Pequot Lakes, Breezy Point, Crosslake, Crosby, and communities throughout the surrounding area.
These aren’t just dots on a service-area map. They’re the communities where we live, work, shop, eat, spend time on the water, raise families, and run into people we know.
That’s one of the things we enjoy most about being a local company.
When we’re taking care of a property in Nisswa or Crosslake, we’re not working in some anonymous market hundreds of miles from home. We’re taking care of another little piece of the same place we call home.
Enjoy It While It Lasts
Anyone who has lived in Minnesota for long knows that fall doesn’t stick around nearly long enough.
One week you’re admiring the colors around Gull Lake. A few weeks later you’re scraping frost off the windshield. Before long, the leaves are gone, the lakes begin to freeze, and we’re all trying to remember where we put the snow shovel.
So enjoy it while it’s here.
Take a drive through Nisswa or Crosslake. Walk one of the trails around Cuyuna. Spend one more afternoon by the lake. Get the yard ready for winter, then take a little time to appreciate the view.
Winter will be here soon enough.
And when the snow finally melts next spring, TurfCare will be right here, ready to help make lawns throughout the Brainerd Lakes Area green again.
